Summer in the Park - Just Us Dance Theatre: Born to Protest

Meet up at The Bandstand in Greenwich Park for a dusk-time event for 14 – 25 year olds. Join us for Born to Protest – a performance by Just Us Dance Theatre. Choreographer Joseph Toonga aims to dismantle presumptions about the black male and female figure based on intimidation and isolation, revealing instead character traits around fragility, vulnerability and a constant battle to prove oneself.

The hypersensitivity of the black body in space is magnified by Born to Protest’s cast of seven performing en masse to a soundscape which sets up an intense energy with hip hop beats and voice over.

Entry is free – no need to book

Produced by Greenwich Dance and Artstrust Productions. In partnership with Greenwich Park, as part of Greenwich Park Revealed, with support from the National Lottery Heritage fund and National Lottery Community Fund and Royal Greenwich Festivals.
